slide pul...uh...favorite recent beer!!
I recently rather enjoyed a Peak Organic IPA...lovely, smooth IPA, not too hoppy or heavy, but fantastic flavor! Great for summer, especially!

Do you drink beer where the head can become a problem when trying to fill the glass? Maybe you should buy a beer that does not produce a head.

Re: slide pul...uh...favorite recent beer!!
I find that, with both of my tubas, I really only have to manipulate/pull/abuse the first and, to a much lesser extent, second slides. I don't know if that says something about the horns or about me.
A couple of weeks ago, I did two performances of the Ralph Vaughan Williams Concerto with the local municipal band, and after the second performance I had a bottle of Chimay red label that my dad had bought for me, along with the Chimay chalice that came with it. Might just be the best beer I've ever had (tied with Samuel Smith's Oatmeal Stout).

My horn is always perfectly in tune: no slide pulls necessary
Really, my favorite recent beer is the homebrew in my fridge (yes, you can have some: come on over!)
But amongst the common brews, I prefer this:

I'm with Karl; the two IPAs I bottled about a month ago are my current fave.
Being on the road at the moment, though, the New Belgium 1554's my wife and I had this evening went down quite well.

And here I thought Kentucky Breakfast Stout was the champ...! I hope we can get that out here in NYC.ZNC Dandy wrote:Founders "Devil Dancer" Triple IPA...
Best I've had recently (and top of the top in general) was a bottle of Dogfish Head 120 Minute IPA. Super strong, super smooth, and overall just extraordinary. I think I got one of the last bottles in the city!

Re: slide pul...uh...favorite recent beer!!
Well, kinda. Labels are labels. Bad beers have good labels. Good beers have bad labels. Trying lots of things at a good beer bar (and not a liquor store) gives a less slanted opinion.LJV wrote:I recently pulled a slide...
Have to say that I know all these micro brews and such are the rage, but there just aren't that many that warrant the price. A fancy label and cutesy carrier do not a good beer make. Some of the basic smaller full production breweries have them by a mile.
Walking though the local "boutique" grocery stores and reading the labels on some of that swill is an exercise in sophomoronic humor with little, if any, quality beer pay-off for a purchase.

Also, there's the fact that the big breweries and corporations (InBev and MillerCoors) are buying out small breweries to 1) reduce competition or the illusion of it and 2) capitalize on the growing trends w/o people noticing.
I think a lot of people would be shocked to see how many brands (even small ones!) are owned by InBev and MillerCoors.

Recently tried the sour beers at Russian River (Santa Rosa, CA). Wow. Good stuff. I believe "sanctification" was my favorite of the three - it was the medium colored beer.

Also, here is a larger list for AB-InBev.

That's too bad about Goose Island being bought by them recently. Hopefully AB will not dumb down their production line, but as it is, I'll be taking my business elsewhere.

I never pull slides. Then again, I probably don't play in tune all that much either.
