Wurlitzer baritone - who made it?

Post by freddytuba »

I just received an old Wurlitzer "Professional" baritone, and I'm trying to find out who made it.

The serial # is A12xxx and it says "USA" on it.

Any help is appreciated.

One point not to be overlooked is that Wurlitzer means a person from Wurlitz, which is in NE Bavaria about one days walking from Markneukirchen. I doubt the Wurlitzer family can have avoided the regional influence. According to Wiki they actually did manufacture brasses in the US at some point of time. And for legal reasons the USA stamping very likely is true.

Wurlitz is far est. Matkneukirchen is far right a bit more north. Bohemia/Czechia sends a panhandle up between Bavaria and Saxony.
