Re: Hurricane
Long night, but we made it! Never lost power, no flooding, though high tide isn't for a few hours yet. Now time to figure out what to do and how to help others.

Re: Hurricane
No loss of power, no flooding, no damage, we came through just fine. The flooding in nearby areas is pretty bad though. My landlord called to see how the place was, and said the Passaic River near where he lives flooded across two baseball fields, a football field, and into three houses. Luckily, he's a few houses down from where the water stopped. My brother also said the ground water levels pushed out the liner on his pool, so it's gonna cost him some serious money to have that fixed. Otherwise, everyone seems to be ok.

Re: Hurricane
By the looks of the newscasters this morning... it appears that even the reporters were a bit disappointed in the performance of Irene. One reporter was standing ankle-deep in water and poor old Al Roker wasn't even slipping and sliding around on The Boardwalk while holding up his portable wind-measuring gadget.
I'm sure there were a few trials and tribulations but nothing to match all the media hype!

Upon further inspection, my basement is under a few inches of water. I've called my landlord, so he can deal with it. Luckily, I don't have anything down there, except for a propane tank.TMurphy wrote:No loss of power, no flooding, no damage, we came through just fine. Re: Hurricane
The plan to desensitize this New Yorker to hurricanes worked out splendidly.
Returned home safe and sound.

And though all ended well here in Manhattan, lots of people in other states and places in NY were hit very hard. Lots of flooding up north with more to come. Hoping for the best for everyone!

Re: Hurricane
Glad that's over with! We didn't lose power, but we did lose cable, internet and phone. And, we lost a 40 ft. maple. It came down toward the house, but luckily it fell just inches in front of the house. Being that it was at the curb, the town claimed it was their's. They showed up at the tail end of the storm, cut it up and took it away! They have to come back for the stump. My tax dollars at work. Today, it took me 6 hours to rake up the rest of the property. Maybe, I'll move to Texas!!
