I struck out around mid-Missouri, and eventually gave up trying to get an old trumpet case refurbished (I know, but it's kind of an heirloom). Anyway, I decided it didn't matter that much, but if I'd kept at it, I would've tried a furniture reupholsterer. I'd think a tuba case would be even nearer their line of work than a trumpet case.

Check around to see if you have a luggage shop in your area. The tough stuff that's used to cover sound systems and speaker cabinets is called Tolex. I've resurrected a few cases but it's no picnic.

G&G cases in downtown Los Angeles might do it. They make all the wood cases for Kanstul. I don't know if they do repairs, but that HB case is along the lines of what they make.

I don't really need another case, but I got this thing sitting here. Throw it away?

Don't throw it away! eBay it or sell it to some music store that sells these sorts of things.

I'll sell the case. Look on the "for sale" board in a day or so. I'll snap a coupla shots, & I need to see how much shipping via Greyhound would cost. Thanks all for the helpful suggestions.

Considering that new hard cases seem to start at about $500 and go up to nearly $2,000, I would be pretty motivated to repair and update an old one. Needless to say, I'm with the others that say don't trash it. Put it up for sale and take what you can get for it...it's worth something to somebody.
