Working on my first serious piece,The Corsair,for an upcoming concert.I'm having to use quite a few new fingerings,but i am starting to adapt to the new tuba.I'm very happy with high and especially low register.build quality-no complaints,will change out soft bumper corks,but that's every new rotary tuba.I don't think i will need the tuning slide trigger,but i am using many new fingerings.I can make it work.It is not for beginner f players,but if you are experienced and need to save some money,i really doubt your conductor or audience will ever know...Will report back after concert,might be better or worse in a real concert situation...

How would you compare it to your old B&S? Both in terms of size and playing characteristics.

Having not yet had a chance to try one of these yet in real playing situation with ensemble, will be very interested to hear how you get on Mike.

I remember when I had a MW182 and used for Mahler 1 solo, I had to use quite a few alternative figurings, so the 600 is not the only F requiring such. But that is probably a good point about it not an instrument for F beginners.

In my opinion,the b&s was better in every way except low register.I did not think I was upgrading.it was a financial decision.my f usually sits in my closet 49-50 wks per year.I just felt like that was a waste of resources.the more time I spend w the Jb,the more I like/adapt to it.it will work for me.keep in mind it is7-8000$ less than what it is a clone of.pretty impressive,all things considered...

Went fine tonight.appointed principal with orchestra I was playing with(northwest Florida s.o.)lots of new fingerings.it's good to have 6 valves.I found a fingering to get me within 10-15 c of every note,then just steer it in from there.I remember doing much of the same with the b&s, but w standard fingerings.did have a linkage screw fly off in rehearsa- not good(a violist found it

will tighten frequently.all in all- a very useable f for ridiculous money...Next up-pines/Ben hur on Jb 186...
