My daughter (the one who posed for the silly sousaphone ad pictures) was robbed at gunpoint in the same block (before she moved to another state - with no job prospects in the other state). I'm very thankful that I was able to sell my properties, find another place in a safer place, and get out. Even to this day, this is considered to be a so-called "good" part of town.

How's your 'Labor Day Holiday' going? I got a kick out of this cartoon in this morning's paper as it sums up what's happening here right now:

I have what I think is creditable evidence that Joe had a fireplace in his Mid-South bldg. on Summer. I wonder if he used the gas furnace at all, or just burned wood.

Had some time on my hands waiting for a bank to email me some info, and since I couldn't leave the computer I spent 10 minutes on Google Earth looking at Summer(noticed from your map your old store was there). Just curious to see how badly the neighborhood had run down since I was last there. Couldn't help but notice the fireplace. Seems so out of place in a music store, but then I remembered whose music store it was and the pieces fit together. I stopped to eat at a reccomended BBQ place on Summer 'bout 10 years ago. Best BBQ I ever had. Don't remember the name. Closer to town than your store. Area was pretty seedy even then. I was concerned when I went back out to the car and there were three or four thugs hanging around. I just knew you were heating that store with wood. It just figured.

(They would ALWAYS pull that $h!t in December, to boost their cash flow, and would - in particular - pick on small businesses.) It was RIDICULOUSLY high, and REALLY pissed me off. Instead of calling them, I just turned off the heat for a friggin' month. Customers would come in the store (when it was about 30 degrees outside) and it was about 45 degrees inside. They would say, "Hey, it's a little chilly in here, isn't it?" and I would reply, "Yes Ma'am, it is."

At the end of that month, MLGW sent me a refund check for over $1000.

bloke "a-holes" :x
They don't allow that $h!t here in Utah. Estimated billings here have to be opt-in. Move out here - it's great as long as you don't mind shoveling snow.

Didn't want to lug a tuba to church last night so I played the 3301, subbing for my regular tuba player. Wow! Every time I pick it up I am impressed. Great response, intonation and dynamic range. Needed to play very softly and nimbly last night and that horn made it so easy. If it weren't so dang heavy I would play it exclusively. Thanks to Roger for putting me onto it.
