An Enigma?

Post by Dan Schultz »

According to published King serial numbers and model numbers... serial number 350453 was made in 1955-60 (making it a model 1240). This King has the 1st slide on top and an 'uncurled' 3rd wrap like the modern 2340... which wasn't in production until AFTER 1980. The changes may have been done later than the production date.

I've seen lots of these Kings that were sort of 'puzzling'.

Nonetheless... it looks like a descent horn.

Possibly. They could have also left the two-digit prefix off... (number plus fifty = year).

With that in mind... the '35' probably has a space after it and the horn was actually made in 1985. And IS a bona-fide model 2340.

I find that seller's definition of "very good" to be very interesting...
