Wind machine

Post by tclements »

For an upcoming concert, we need a wind machine. Someone told me that there is a guitar effects pedal that does this. Any clues here? Thanks!

My Yamaha synthesizer has a wind-noise stop. You might check those available to you. White noise can also be filtered to simulate a wind effect. You might also check free sound effect downloads on the web.

Old theatre wind noise machines consisted of a drum of wood slats with a weighted canvas hung over it. The stagehand cranked the drum at different speeds to simulate windstorms.
