Whaddya think sounds better...

Post by toobagrowl »

.... a perfect plastic York-shaped bell

..or...

a silver-plated gold brass authentic York bell with a few dents and a crease..

and for mouthpieces.....

a lexan Kellyburg in perfect condition

...or....

a silver-plated Conn Helleberg with a couple nicks on the rim and an out-of-round shank?

Discuss :tuba:

*Meant to be a fun, shits & giggles thread.

Were there ever any York bells made out of gold brass?

Does the hypothetical out-of-roundness cause a leak, when the mouthpiece is placed in the receiver?

According to this chart, the best place for a recital would be in an Ice Hotel. (Assuming you want the least sound loss that is.

Isn't that what this thread was for after all?

To bring this back to the original post. I can't wait for plastic tubas to arrive on the market. Surely, these will only be overpriced noise makers but I think be a lot of fun. (I am thinking that some company will probably start making plastic tubas (similar to the pbone) sometime in the future...I might be wrong)

I prefer the armadillo nose bell with a razor that is out of round.
