Vintage CSO and Arnold Jacobs

Post by Alex C »

I just found these. These look to be early 70's performances, in the middle of the long golden age of the CSO.

Meistersinger (solo begins at about 6:30)

Berlioz – Romeo and Juliet (Recitative starts at about 1:30) Jacobs is playing a B&S Symphonie model 5-valve F in this.

Tannhauser - Not a lot of tuba work but what Jacobs put there is choice.

City Intonation Inspector - Dallas Texas
"Holding the Bordognian Fabric of the Universe together through better pitch, one note at a time."

Practicing results in increased atmospheric CO2 thus causing global warming.

Thanks for sharing. Great stuff! We were so impressed by them back in the 70s when we tried to learn how to play, we are still (impressed and trying to learn :) )
