Ian... I don't understand why you (and others) think that any time a sponsor is interested in selling something that it belongs on the 'sponsors' page.

It's probably because I don't understand why we have a Sponsor's Section. I will gladly retract my previous statement if someone explains why we have the other section.

In other words.... you feel that those of us who actually help to support TubeNet should be relegated to post only on the 'sponsors' page that gets little or no traffic?

No, IN MY OPINION, only those promoting their business or ads for sales. Normal information that you may have about instruments, music or other questions regarding stuff can go anywhere. It's just if you're selling something and you're a sponsor, it should go in the sponsor section......

I guess you're entitled to your opinion but it's not really worth arguing about. Why don't you simply take it up with the forum owner instead of blathering about it here?

Back to the tuba...

A few questions (respectfully asked, though I'm not personally interested...):

-- Does this come with a practice mute?
-- How big is this in the case? Can you carry it on an airplane like the MW travel tuba?
-- How comfortable is it to hold/practice with one of these for a long period of time? It's small so I'm sure it's light... but still seems to be something that you're always holding out front of you. I'm a lazy tuba player, looks like a lot of work...

This is the same as the Bubbie tuba sold by Wessex Tubas so I can answer.

1. It does not as standard come with mute, but I have German mutes as used in the MW available to fit which I sell at reduced price if bought with tuba.

2. The case is only 65 x 28 x 42cm in size which although strictly speaking is slightly larger than permitted as cabin luggage (as is the MW travel tuba case!), I have flown multiple times with one in cabin, without query. It fits perfect in overhead locker and only weighs 6.8kg with tuba inside. If it does have to go in checked luggage, case is strong enough to survive undamaged (I have flown from China with two in hold and one in cabin)

3. Comfort will no doubt depend on the player and their personal attributes, but for me it nicely sits on my stomach and I can hold playing all day with no discomfort.

Regarding posting in Sponsor's section - note it say;

This would be a great place to make annoucements for sales, new stock arriving, or anything else you would like to say to let people know what you have to offer.

"A great place" does not read that Sponsors have got to only post in Sponsors section - which section they post is their choice as are posts by other members of TubeNet.

I will always post in Sponsor section with sales announcements and such like, but not subjects where Tubenetters are likely to want to discuss, such as tuba reviews.

Hi-
Owning one of these, I can answer:
---no mute, I bought my practice mute from Voigt
---yes, this case is small enough and good enough to put overhead above seats on a plane
---it is not hard to hold-sort of 'sits' on your stomach.

I would 'assume' that Tom is selling this horn because he is getting his own
company name etched on these horns in an upcoming order. I assume ( which I don't like to do) this horn is labeled like mine 'Xu Qiu'--and that is the ONLY reason he is selling this horn.

I own one, they are a blast & easy to play, great pitch, --if you want a travel tuba, buy it......my 2 cents....

Horn is being sold because this is what I do and I have more arriving. I still don't own my own CC tuba yet because they keep getting sold. One day, I will own one.

RE holding it- wouldn't a neck strap or harness work fine for those "less comfortable" individuals?

I just think with the bore of this thing, a 5th valve similar to the Yamaha Euph 321 5th valve option may be the way to go for those wanting one.

Please explain Mark - I am not familiar with that design? A search on-line has only found 4-valve 321

It was a dependent valve assembly that replaced the fourth valve tuning slide. Check out this thread for more information. There are photos of the factory setup on the second page.
