Best Repair Guy Chicago Area

Post by Javimont »

Hello everybody,

First of all I want to say that I´m a new forum member and that this is my first post.

I´m looking for a good tuba repair technician in the Chicago area so if somebody can give me some advice about this will be great.

Thanks!!!!

Carl's Pro Band is the closest place I know that I'd send my tubas to. He's in Bloomington/Normal, right off of ISU's campus. I just had my PT6P cleaned. They did a great job and it was fast too.

Dana Hofer has done fine work for me several times, just outside Chicago.

Here is another vote for Dana Hofer. Hell of a technician, hell of a guy.

Nate Medsker, formerly of Greenhoe Trombones, is doing some fantastic work at Fix This! Instrument Repair in Palatine. He embarked on a giant tuba project (huge dents everywhere, needed a replacement water key crook, etc) when I left town last week, and I am excited to see his progress on it when I get back tomorrow.

I'm posting another vote for Matt Johnson. When I dropped a horn off with him this past Tuesday, the customer leaving with his horn was Jay Friedman. I know others here have also posted great things about his work.
