Tenn Tech 45th Anniversary concert

Post by ScottM »

When: Friday, Nov. 4, 2011, 7:30 pm
Where: Wattenbarger Auditorium, Bryan Fine Arts Building,
Tennessee Tech University, Cookeville, Tennessee
What: The 2011 Tennessee Tech Tuba Ensemble and the 45th Anniversary Alumni
Ensemble, The Tubas Unlimited

The first part of the concert will be the Tenn Tech U Tuba Enssemble.
The second half will be an alumni ensemble performing arrangements of the Singers Unlimited group made famous in the 1970's.
Should be a good concert.
It is Homecoming weekend at Tech so you will probably either need to drive home after the concert or at least drive out of town a ways to find a room.

Sounds like fun -- have a good trip! Wish I could go. Any chance this will be webcast and/or recorded?

I still have some of their original Golden Crest quadraphonic LPs and the last, best SQ decoder ever commercially sold (Fosgate 101A with TATE technology) in its original box--unfortunately not presently connected to anything.

The late Gene Puerling's arrangements were amazing!
Should be a good concert.
Had the pleasure of only one lesson/Master Class with R. Winston Morris. What a fine gentleman and, as I'm reminded when I listen to recordings of the MJT Project, great musician.

Wish that I could be there!

Kevin Hendrick,
I am a Tennessee Tech alumnus and I will be at the concert and alumni weekend. I will inquire as to whether a recording/webcast will be made and let you know.

*Message just sent to Winston Morris (9:42 am EST Tuesday, 11/1/2011). I will let you know when he replies. He is usually very quick to reply...

From Winston Morris:

"Gray, look forward to seeing you... I’m not aware that there will be any kind of “webcast” although several students lately have done their recitals... It WILL be video taped in HD for WCTE to broadcast at a later date... Gotta run... BUSY BUSY... WM"

WCTE is the local Cookeville TV station, and I will see if I can find out when they will broadcast it...

The "Tubas Unlimited" portion of the program is destined to be a commercially available CD. Mark Morette (of Mark Records) is in town and they are laying down tracks this week. Of course - no date of release, yet.
