Petruschka Owners: mpc. question (yes, ANOTHER mpc. thread)

Post by Mitch »

Okay, fellow Petruschka owners, what mouthpiece have you found to be the best fit with your Petruschka?

Mine came with the Miraphone TU-23, which I kind of like with it, but it isn't everything I'd like it to be.

I've also been using an OLD (ca 1984) Perantucci 19 (don't know what the "PT" number would be for the "same" mouthpiece currently), that I kind of like with it, but it isn't everything I'd like it to be.

I've also been using a G&W Al Baer MMVI F mouthpiece with it, which I kind of like with it, but it isn't everything I'd like it to be.

Has anyone found a mouthpiece they thought was just THE perfect fit with their Petruschka?

(Also, should it be lacquer or silver, large bell or small bell, vintage or new, or stainless steel or monel?)

After trying several mp's, I settled on the Laskey 30C for being the most consistent and best fit FOR ME on my 1281.

I have never been much of a MP tester. After a while I just get frustrated. But I have settled on the Laskey 30C (I think C, can't remember for sure). I also use my PT-64 when I want a darker sound.

I use the Blokepiece solo#1 on my 1281 and it works quite well.

Being aware that the choice of a mouthpiece is a very personal item, here my experience.
My Petruschka came with a TU 27. I am pretty sure, Miraphone recommends this mouthpiece for its Petruschka. My sound seemed to be somewhat "hollow" with it. Now I use a Werner Chr. Schmidt (Markneukirchen) mouthpiece. It is listed as H.W. Liemen 328 FW. I am very satisfied with it in every respect.
This mouthpiece for F-tuba was developped bij Schmidt in cooperation with H.W. Liemen, solo-tubist at the Staatskapelle Dresden).
