Posture and Breathing

Post by bobn »

I want to share this free yoga video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8AF7aknb-ZA" target="_blank" target="_blank
It is an excellent source for improving my posture and breathing.

I have found Yoga to be very beneficial for improving my alignment, breathing and repairing old shoulder injuries. I wish I had started earlier in my career.

Check it out- you will benefit from it!

Re: Posture and Breathing

Excellent post! I preach yoga and overall fitness to my students, and anyone who will listen. I think people in all walks of life neglect health and overall fitness too frequently. My wife is an E 500 RYT (Yoga teacher with over 5000 contact hours) and she has helped me tremendously with breathing and posture as it relates to the tuba. I have furthered this focus on alignment, and use a tuba stand, and chair blocks, to raise the back legs of my chairs. I utilize yoga to relieve tension, build strength and aid my breathing. They are concepts easily applied to playing the tuba. One of these days, I will convince her to team up with me to do a presentation/lecture/demo on health/wellness and tuba playing at a conference.

Thanks for the post! Good stuff!
