Here a video for the Seattle Wind Symphony's inaugural concert on Sunday. I'm in the back somewhere trying to keep up with the euphoniums: Danny Helseth, Kelly Talaske and Terry Paananen.

Nice! I noticed the lady in the middle (Kelly?) plays left-handed. Was she originally a French horn player?

What was the encore number? Overture to something?
Is this a pro or am group? It was very good!

The Seattle Wind Symphony was just organized in September. The members are not being paid yet. However, most of the members would be considered pros.David Richoux wrote:What was the encore number? Overture to something?
It was the last part of Shostakovich's Festive Overture.

VERY nice Mark. I listened to the other post - Sanctuary - as well and found it quite relaxing.
It would be nice to have a groupl like that to play with.

Well, if she plays left-handed, is she left-handed, and is her horn left-handed too? I have a left-handed euph/baritone that someone totally turned around to play left-handed. I thought I might have the only one, but maybe not? Mine doesn't play like that though, at least for with me.

Re: Euphoniums Showing Off
Kelly has a physical disability that prevents the use of her right hand, in this case, for playing the valves of a euphonium. I'm not sure if Kelly frequents tubenet, but if she does, I'll leave it up to her to provide any more specific or personal information.
That was a very exciting concert to see live! As a euphonium player, its so great to see a professional/semi-professional opportunity for euph players to play the bread and butter of their ensemble repertoire outside of a collegiate or military setting. Bravo to Larry Gookin for his musical vision as conductor of this wonderful wind symphony!
P.S.-The gentleman on the audience's left playing euphonium is Danny Helseth. If you haven't heard his name yet, I HIGHLY encourage perusing his website and checking out his solo euph album. Incredible musician, teacher, and friend.
