Saddle products used as a tuba harness
About a year ago or so, I was playing bass at a theme park, and a guest and I got to talking about playing the tuba. I told him I was just starting to play tuba to expand my options, and was looking for something I could stand and play. He suggested instead of a tuba harness, to use parts from a saddle. I don't remember what parts he told me to use, but after a bit of internet searching, I'm guessing he meant the girth and billets. Has anyone else tried this? Looks like I can get some decent leather pieces fairly cheap.

No experience or ideas to add? It seems I can buy some good quality used tack on eBay for around $30 to get me started, that doesn't seem too expensive to give it a shot. I hoped that since I randomly met some guy who gave me this advice, that he wasn't the first guy to try it.
