OK, I am aware about this being a tuba site, but there only are so many groups I can be a member of without loosing track. And there are several versatile musicians on this board.
My problem with finding out about the potentials for changing the fried piezo treble horn of my 30 (or so) years old Cube Keyboard 40 is lack of precise terminology. Either I find nothing or I find way too much via Google.
As far as I can hear the treble filter/amp works via the headphone plug, whereas the descant horn appears being dead. The sound is nice and mellow, but there is no presence. Neither is there a bite to the upper strings of my western guitar, a Martin Backpacker. I hate loosing that fine and very clear practice amp (but not as much as I would hate loosing a good instrument).
Is it possible to replace that treble horn?
Is it worthwhile? I am playing quite a bit on my plucked strings currently, so I am not motivated for a short-term getting by. If I buy the current Acoustic Cube 30 I might consider using the old CK40 to round and supplement the bass.
