What to do if I get a degree in music?

Medical school pre-reqs are a little more specific than this. You need an undergrad degree (in anything, it doesn't matter what field), and you also need 1 year each (2 semesters, all with labs) of general chemistry, organic chemistry, physics, and biology. There is an English course requirement (though I think any US degree holder would need English 1 and 2), and you must have taken math up through calculus.

Some medical schools vary a bit on these requirements, but the above mentioned parameters would get you into 95% of US medical schools (along with the MCAT and a good GPA).

$40K/year... I hope that is a severe exaggeration. Simply NO ONE would go into debt for $300,000 plus to earn that after residency.

I am already shocked that we have ANY new veterinarians, given how much their schooling is, and how (relatively) weak their earning potential is.

The "playing field" is level. If people want to earn more, then do something more valuable.

Hate to revive this, but according to newsweek, a degree in music is the 7th most usless degree to get. I think they are looking at it from a get a job, make a living perspective. As I have said before, my music degree is invaluable to me, but I don't use it to make a living.

Hate to revive this, but according to newsweek, a degree in music is the 7th most usless degree to get. I think they are looking at it from a get a job, make a living perspective. As I have said before, my music degree is invaluable to me, but I don't use it to make a living.

I think everybody in this list would agree that a music degree doesn't lead directly into employment unless it is a music ed degree.

FWIW, I think the article in the link you posted is quite poor in substance. First, the author seems to use only salaries, graduates and jobs openings to come to his conclusions. Second, there are 3-4 degrees that I don't quite see as belonging on that list. (HR, Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Agriculture) This might just be a Canadian thing, but those feels are booming here and it usually possible to get a job with those degrees.
