Fingering chart for a Serpent Forveille

Post by Roger Fjeldet »

Can anyone point me to a website that shows a fingering chart for the Serpent Forveille?
This Serpent is not the snake-like model, but the later version that has the look of the Ophicleide and with 3 keys :D

The Serpent Forveille has a slightly cryptic finger order... most are identical to the serpent d'eglise, with the right hand reversed. For some great information and to hear one played, check out Doug Yeo's DVD... he includes sheet music for the Serpent Forveille.

More, though, every serpent has fingering variants; happily, the Forveille's were well know to be the pinnacle of serpent construction, ease of playing, and well placed keys.

Good luck!
