Hey guys,
Is the ophicleide/serpent/tuba part for Mendelssohn's Elijah fun to play, or a snooze?

We played this when I was in college. It had a few parts that were fun (compared to the rest of it) but overall it was kinda ho hum. I brought a book to most rehearsals.....

Take a book (or an iPad which I think is the current time waster of choice). Some good bits with the trombones but LOTS of tacet movements.

Take a score to a later rehearsal; you may learn something.
What Bloke said, too.
