VPO Christoph Gigler

Post by bilmac »

I noticed the tubist on the New Years day concert from Vienna, Christopnh Gigler I think. He's a member of the Vienna Berlin Brass Quintet. Here's the question---can anyone identify the silver plated tuba he's seen with in the photos? He was playing it at the New Years Day concert. Small but interesting looking instrument. I can't get it to fit with anything I 'm familiar with.

Search his name and you'll get the Quintett. I'll post the link later.

The tuba's bell looks really small, but the picture looks manipulated to me, so I wouldn't trust it so much. The horn player's left hand is missing and the trombone player appears to be both in front of and behind the trumpet player in the middle.

...pretty sure the horn player's hand is in his left pocket.

I was trying to think of the second letter that comes after "B&..." It's not S, and it's not M.

B&"X" makes bells that look like that. Walter Hilgers was playing one last time we talked about the VPO on here. Not that I have the slightest idea what this tuba is. I just noticed that the shape of the bell flare was the same.

B&F... Bohland and Fuchs.

Here's another photo. It still appears very small.
