Always knew Diana Krall had good taste
Anybody know the player? First appearance at 1:26. (Not that we're not staring at her!)

Can't say I know who this player is, but I know when I saw Diana Krall last year in Vancouver she played with the Vancouver Symphony and Ellis Wean was playing. I don't know if she tours with her own orchestra (haha) but I'm assuming that the orchestra is made up of members from the Rio area.

If he is not, he must enjoy getting paid for all those potato notes----not a tuba-friendly piece of music!Cameron Gates wrote:Does anyone else think the tuba player is a poser?

Was there a tuba player there?
I watched this twice, and I didn't see a tuba, french horn, percussion or a guitar player there. All I noticed was Diana Krall and nice music.

Re: Always knew Diana Krall had good taste
I played the first two nights of that tour in Calgary back in the spring of '09. It was a double: tuba and second trombone. The tuba parts were mostly whole and half notes but nice scoring- almost entirely as the bass of the french horn section. The two trombones and three trumpets were only used on three or four tunes- pretty high parts for me on bass trombone.
All in all it was a very enjoyable gig. She has a great trio with her and she puts on a great show.

Are you sure about that Kory? I subbed in for Ellis on a Diana Krall show and it was right around that time frame. . .

Re: Always knew Diana Krall had good taste
If you listen to the original Bacharach arrangement, there was a strong trumpet part in the song. With that much brass in the new one, I was expecting just a bit more... something!
Very nice, though. Glad to see her husband is not changing her voice style too much

Pretty sure it's Klaus Ogerman's work.bloke wrote:As far as the Krall arrangement, it sounds a little bit like a Nelson Riddle arrangement, but that would be impossible (d. 1985).
