I enjoy watching a good football game and the thrill of a big DI college game is great but let me tell you something; the big schools have nothing on the DI-AA FCS schools. After taking down James Madison this afternoon, in one heck of a game, the NDSU Bison are now on their way to the quarter finals with a real good possibility of making it to (and hopefully winning) the national championship in Frisco, TX on January 7. This is the way the BCS should be played, with a true play off system.
I know a couple of you are from App State; I was truly sorry to hear you lost this afternoon as I was hoping for a little Tubenet football rivalry fun. Maybe next year
My wife has family in Montana somewhere but they are Grizzly fans so I'm rooting for them in that half of the bracket and then hoping that NDSU just stomps the snot out of them in the championship game.
As a 3 time Lehigh grad it was great to see them make it past the first round in an exciting 40-38 game. I don't really expect them to go much farther, but you never know . It's still not too bad for a program that doesn't offer any athletic scholarships. They did win the national championship when I was an undergrad in 1977.
Lew, I will be standing guard in the stands with the Gold Star Marching Band (keeping the drunk students away from harassing the band) during the game and then I'll be on a backfield ladder for the pre-game/halftime shows. As a football fan, I'm excited to see my Bison continue their winning ways. However, as a GTA with the GSMB who is way over my allotted hours of work, I am ready for the season to be over. The bigger part of me is hoping for a championship game and hoping that the President's office and the athletic department come up with the money to send the band to Frisco, TX.
My mighty Bison shut out Lehigh today and head into semi-finals agains Georgia Southern next week here in Fargo (sorry Lew). SRanney, sorry to hear about your Bobcats as well. I was looking forward to a Montana show down next week before a Montana beat down in Frisco, TX
Not a surprise that Lehigh lost, but I hoped they could at least score. From what I saw of the game my Engineers (I refuse to call them the Mountain Hawks) held their own, even with getting shut out.
NDSU Bison just took down Georgia Southern and are now on their way to the National Championship game in Frisco, TX on January 7. Bring on Sam Houston State.
The next question is, "will they send the band and if so, will the send the whole band or just part of the band?"
Had a good game and met some good folks from the GSU band (they brought a 20 piece pep band). The Gold Star Marching Band played well with their "Bon Joviamericana Christmas show
Just found out, it looks as if the AD and the President's office wants to send the whole band so it looks as if somebody is going to find the money. Look out Texas, there's a stampede on the way. The Herd is coming! Go Bison!!!!!
The football team arrived in Frisco today. The band leaves at O'dark thirty tomorrow morning for the long drive. Gonna spend the night in Wichita, KS Thurs & again on Saturday and then on to Friso Friday morning for a short rehearsal and then some free time for most of us, with a small pep band headed to the alumni pep rally that night. The march is on, Go Bison!
http://www.gobison.com/ViewArticle.dbml ... =205357709 Ladies and gentlemen, I am proud to announce that the NDSU Bison have defeated the SHSU Bearkats 17-6 and are your 2011 DI-AA FCS national champions! Go Bison!!!!!!!
What an exciting game. I am very glad I was allowed to go (especially at minimal cost to myself) and be a part of this. Now though, I am tired and sore and so ready to be in my own bed next to my lovely wife after having spent approximately 40 hours out of the last 4 days sitting on a bus or driving the equipment van. I am too old for this stuff . . . but I'm looking forward to a repeat next year I hope Almost home.
