Greetings everyone--

We had the 37th annual Central NC TubaChristmas in Greensboro, NC on Dec. 10th--on average we have 120-125 performers each year, and this year was 120. I've been hosting in Greensboro for 20 years, now, and my predecessor at UNCG, David Lewis (tubist with the NC Symphony) started it and did the first 17 years in either Greensboro or Raleigh. This year, WUNC, our primary public tv network approached me about doing a show on our event--as it turned out, it aired on the 19th, and can be found here: http://video.unctv.org/video/2178981346" target="_blank scroll over to the 8:54 mark, for our section. I think they did a nice job with the interviews of different players, etc.

happy holidays!

Wow!!,the Kansas City event looked like alot of fun!! I attended the TubaChristmas at Christopher Newport College in Newport News,VA on Sunday December 4,2011. There were about 55 players. I brought my 1927 King Doublebell Baritone. We played in the foyer an hour before the schools christmas program. A few spectators grew to over 250 by the time we were done! Good time !!!

I don't know how I missed this one! We had about 60 at Salem's TubaChristmas, also the first without Dr. John Richards, on December 10th. Had I know Kiltie Tuba was going to be in Portland, I'd have considered the extra hour... Salem came back inside the Elsinore Theater (after two years at the fairgrounds) to a sell out crowd. They're going back to performing on Christmas Eve next year. Having the event the same day as Portland affected attendence atboth events.

Eugene/Springfield is an "Unaffiliated" Tuba Carol Christmas. I believe our count was 55 on December 3rd. We played indoors at the Wildish Theater to a SRO crowd. One Helicon. Oldest 89, youngest 14. Oldest horn was a pin valve euph from the 1890's. Newest was a YEP321 played by one of the new OTE memebers.
