The last thing that I drank was cranberry juice which came from a spigot in a casino employee cafeteria. Otherwise, I had some catfish fillets, mashed potatoes, some really amazing green beans, a very good salad, and a macadamia nut cookie (stuff brought up from the Paula Deen buffet). Last night, we ate Cajun cuisine (a buffet at a high-rollers' appreciation party).

Oddly, at the gig here in Louisville this weekend I FINALLY took delivery of a 19" bell Buescher tuba that I bought so long ago I had completely forgotten about it. Image The seller, at my request (many months ago), had dropped it off at my trumpet player friend/colleague's house (to save on shipping costs)...This was the first gig we've played together since that time."

As far as whiskey is concerned, I WISH I COULD find other whiskeys that I like as well as I like Dickel #12. :|

I've finally found some Scotch whiskys that are ...GOOD.
- "Scotch" doesn't really mean anything...not even blended...Variations in what are labeled "scotch" are WILD.
- "single malt" is even MORE of a wild card.

Yes, Crown Royal is smooth...but (price aside) too smooth.

J. Daniels tastes like charcoal. I don't like drinking charcoal. I don't drink charcoal "just because" I live in Tennessee. Yes, I liked the band.

I've tried quite a few types of whisky. Most all make me wish I had a glass of (straight) #12.

bloke "Dickel is not a bourbon and nor is it a scotch. Further, (though it is distilled in the mountains just west of Chattanooga) it isn't anything like Daniels so-called 'Tennessee whiskey'. Dickel #12 is a whisky unto its own."

I have always thought that American Whiskey was pure rot-gut. Dickels is not, I have a bottle that sits proudly next to my bottle of Jameson's and Tullamore Irish Dew. It serves me well straight up with no chaser when I am in the mood for a heavier, woody flavor.
