Re: Top Ten Worst Tuba Players
Maybe it was suppose to be satire of the claim that people make that there is such a "top 10 best players" list out there. Maybe that was the op's point. Maybe, Kathott just felt like joining in on the whole trolling thing that seems to happen sometimes....tubahero300 wrote:+1. seriously, why are we pointing out other people who arent the best, seriously who cares!Bob Kolada wrote:What is the point of this list?

Anyone who plays "Snake Pit" should definitely be on the list.

No self respecting competent tubist (be they world class professional or local amateur) would participate in creating such a list. Its totally ridiculous--why worry about listing the worst at anything? You would do well to learn from the those who are accomplished and have been performing and teaching for a long period time. With respect, the post reflects poorly on you.

Thanks for the warning -- we'll stand well back (knowing what happens when those jokes hit a fan) ...cktuba wrote:Check out the Eric Von Schteric post in clipart for the whole story. As I am both a trumpter and a tubist, I can say this proves tubists have a greater sence of Humor. If this was on a trumpet forum, well let's just say satan would be leaving hell as it would be found to be a bit chilly by comparison

This phrase leaves me flummoxed whenever you use it, Klaus, because it must derive from the last interaction between Napoleon and the guy who inspired my user name, with whom I obviously feel some affinity. Even though you are a great man, you certainly do not have bad manners,* so I never quite know what to say!imperialbari wrote:

*Because Talleyrand's response to the silk stocking comment was, roughly, "What a pity that so great a man has such bad manners."

Re: Top Ten Worst Tuba Players
This thread is about fouling our own nest, which we shouldn't do.
Not that I am holier than holy myself. In another forum I reported about a player of some international fame, who in a very exposed solo situation did what is a very big no-no in my book: breathing during a cadential trill. For the members of that forum that players reputation was more important than his actual playing, so they went mad at me (which I apparently survived).
You called this thread a joke in the spirit of TubeNet. I didn't comment by means of the saying on top of this post, but twisted a famous quote to say the same thing.
Some players have linked to very bad samples of their own playing. I don't think they should have done that, but I stay away from posting in those threads.
