Aaron Vanderwelle in concert with Blawenburg Band Sunday

Post by billeuph »

If you're in the Princeton/Trenton NJ area on Sunday, you have a chance to
hear Aaron Venderwelle http://euphoniumlessons.com/about-eupho ... -new-york/, the 2007 International Euphonium player of the year, perform Philip
Sparke's *Harlequin* with the Blawenburg Band. The concert is at 3 pm in
Pennington, NJ. For directions or more information, check out the band's
web site at http://blawenburgband.org" target="_blank" target="_blank" .

Rehearsals for the Sparke piece have been lots of fun. It was written for
David Childs, and it has the typical Sparke sound- lyrical, bombastic,
tuneful, wickedly technical, slow as molasses, faster than a speeding
bullet, etc. Aaron makes it sound easy, even as the band sometimes
struggles. Aaron will also play *Nessun Dorma* as an encore.

There is a complete program for the concert on the band's web site.
Seldom-played and little known works are always a feature of these
concerts. The concert is free, and there is free food after.
