I'm leaving tonight for SA. I will be spending a lot of time at the conventions. Maybe I will see some other college students there... I will be at the CMENC session with the UMHB chapter. Maybe I will see some of you at the tuba booths too.

Well, I could drop about $500 and be there for Friday afternoon and all day Saturday.....but it doesn't seem worth it. Am planning on Vegas this summer, not sure how many of "ya'll" will be there.

And when you walk down the sidewalks, there will be people passing out these things that look like baseball cards and pamplets. Don't take any of them! They got pictures of dorn all over 'em advertising everything from stripjoints to escorts. Go see Boulder Dam if at all possible. It's neat! Do the Stratosphere tower too! I'd recommend the thrill rides at the top to the insane only.
I don't gamble....once I put a dollar in a machine in Vegas thinking it was a quarter machine and was going to give me 75 cents back, and when it ate the dollar..... :x !! I've been to numerous business meetings in Lost Wages, and know my way around reasonably well.

Aaaannnddd....I like the thrill rides. I can't do the spinny stuff I could do when I was younger, 'cause I barf now. oopsie. Almost found that out the hard way about 5 years ago at the fair.

I did a big tour of Hoover Dam once (I'm a power engineer) and it was major cool. I was amazed at how much it leaked, though.

MA, who still hopes to meet some Tubers there

The tuba player in Tucson Symphony has a 2155. When Empire Brass was here the concert ended with a march combined with them and the orchestra.....and I could hear the Oom from the orchestral tuba player (Mike Sherline) on his 2155, over EVERYBODY. That thing has OOMPH.

MA, who thinks that blowing the fiddles off their seats once in a while, is good for them

schlepporello wrote:Check this out. When we were there last, the bus driver on our tour bus said that the railroad right-of-way is still intact all the way from Vegas to Hoover Dam. He also said that the city plans to build a mono-rail all the way from Vegas to the dam. He said it should be there in about three years. We'll be back when it happens.

Monorail!
What'd I say?

Ned Flanders: Monorail!

Lyle Lanley: What's it called?

Patty+Selma: Monorail!

Lyle Lanley: That's right! Monorail!

[crowd chants `Monorail' softly and rhythmically]

Miss Hoover: I hear those things are awfully loud...

Lyle Lanley: It glides as softly as a cloud.

Apu: Is there a chance the track could bend?

Lyle Lanley: Not on your life, my Hindu friend.

Barney: What about us brain-dead slobs?

Lyle Lanley: You'll be given cushy jobs.

Abe: Were you sent here by the devil?

Lyle Lanley: No, good sir, I'm on the level.

Wiggum: The ring came off my pudding can.

Lyle Lanley: Take my pen knife, my good man.

I swear it's Springfield's only choice...
Throw up your hands and raise your voice!

All: Monorail!

Lyle Lanley: What's it called?

All: Monorail!

Lyle Lanley: Once again...

All: Monorail!

Marge: But Main Street's still all cracked and broken...

Bart: Sorry, Mom, the mob has spoken!

All: Monorail!
Monorail!
Monorail!

[big finish]

Monorail!

Homer: Mono... D'oh!

Is there nothing the Simpson's have not touched upon?

That was a great Mel-Brooks-esque number. Reminds me of the Spanish Inquisition bit from History of the World Part 1.
