Hi Bloke,
I think what your talking about is what Verizon calls a Network Extender. I don't know if other providers have different names but here's a link to Verizon's info:

...hope it helps.

Yep, it'll work for all your jibber jabber. You just need a high-speed internet connection to make it work.bloke wrote:' not for internet use...' just to boost the cell signal for plain ol' jabbering.

Re: cell signal booster
What company is your cell phone service through?
Point being, as long as you buy the booster device from the appropriate cell phone company (AT&T, Verizon, etc.), this *is* what you need. Yes, it will work for the phone internet features, but if you don't use those, then it'll still help your phone calls.

Research them here, and then take your pick: http://www.solidsignal.com/cview.asp?mc ... 20Boosters
They're relatively easy to install, but read the instructions online before you decide that you can install it in a log home. They have an antenna to receive the cell signal, and the antenna should be high in your home with a lead down to the actual booster.

Re: cell signal booster
I know you were asking about boosters but have you considered diverting your cell phone to your landline when at home. Does your cordless phone have enough range for you?
If not then long range cordless phones are available the only thing that could shoot this down is if your mobile carrier charges you for each diverted call or if the increase in call volumes clogs your home phone.
My cell phone does not work in my home and I welcome the peace, any one that I care about has my landline number customers can email or text.

Joe, if you are an AT&T subscriber I will give you FREE a Blackberry Bold 9700. You will have to provide the charger, but you will get the handy holster, rubber thingee, and all the original software. It is a 3G phone that I used for 2 years, works perfect and has a great battery. This is a one time offer for Bloke alone. Anyone else has to pay me $30.00. Why? Because I can. PM me.
