Ok, I think I missed the "best" tuba conference already this year...the Army one at Ft. Myer. Is there another one that will have major opportunities to playtest tubas? It would be nice if it were less than a day's travel from the Southwest....anything out East is really a "fur piece" for travel from here in the boonies. I know the Vegas one is coming up in June, but will it have lots of exhibits?
MA, who would like to meet tubenetters along with blatting on tubas.

Brasswind, Custom Music, Music Group (Besson) will be at the Midwest Regional at Illinois State next week--but I think this would be more than a day's drive from the Southwest. Perhaps Southwest airlines to Chicago-Midway is inexpensive?

Agreed...knuxie wrote:TMEA in San Antonio has boocoo vendors from Jupiter to Yamaha. So come blat away!

If you can find a way to get there and get in (you have to be a TMEA member, unless they've changed some things) it is the place to go. Probably not as good as something like ITEC or the Army Conf. for tuba specific stuff, but just about as good as it gets.
As Ken said, they have everything from Jupiter to Yamaha...
In the past they've had Willson, Meinl Weston, Hirsbrunner, B&S, Gronitz, Kalison, Yamaha, Besson, Conn, Miraphone, Jupiter and Lidl...and those are just the tubas! Model available to try have ranged from Miraphone 186 "S" series BBb tubas on up to Hirsbrunner HB-50 York copies.
Some of the specialty shops and products won't be there, but if you're looking for a tuba, almost everything you could want is under one roof here.
