I had a GG Contra I wanted to cut to BBb and reconfigure to a concert horn a while back and ended up selling to a 'geezer' corps.
A local high school switched back to sousaphones and had a couple of the old DEG 'Dynasty' M875 'shoulder-fired' marching tubas. They needed to purchase some concert tubas and asked me about converting their old marching horns.

I think it is really cool to re-utilize those horns like that and avoid wasting all the energy and craft that went into making them. Very green, in the environmental sense, and good looking work, too.

I saw this horn in person yesterday. Dan did some good work on it. It looked great!

It played very well. However... the 'stock' thumb-ring location about wore me out. I moved the thumb-ring this morning!MrBasseyPants wrote:I saw this horn in person yesterday. Dan did some good work on it. It looked great!
