Who puts a main sprinkler line 3' underground, 3 inches away from a block wall and lets Italian Cypress trees grow within 2" of it? THE IDIOTS WHO BUILT MY HOUSE IN 1986!!!. Let's see: 105 today, a totally fractured line butt up against the riser, the line has roughly 4" of clearance from said wall and tree. After digging with my hands and finding the fracture (not hard with the saturated raised bed), I found 2 more equally inaccesible ones. 8 hours later, 3 longish breaks, 3 trips to HQ, fitted, blue-glued, and buried ANOTHER LEAK POPS UP. I QUIT. Someone in the Las Vegas Valley is getting some of my hard earned shekels to deal with this crap. You have been updated. On the up-tick, the wife just realized your can bake sugar cookies on the NG Gas Grill.

A few minutes of playing around on the accordion at school waiting for my ride ended up netting me my first dollar from busking. I feel good. :-)

Evansville has banned personal fireworks for seven days. Newburgh is five miles east of Evansville and in a different county. Newburgh banned open burning several days ago but has yet to say anything about personal fireworks.

I'm hoping all the knuckleheads from Evansville don't end up in the vacant lot across the street from me to try to maim themselves!

We generally have a couple of lessons in 'natural selection' around here this time of year.

108 here today, too. Survived a parade at 11am. Just got home from a three-hour 'beer-fest' gig. I thought I was nuts but there were about 2,500 folks sitting at tables in an asphalt parking lot from 6:30 until 9:30 drinking beer, singing "Ein Prosit", and doing the Chicken Dance. Odd folks here in Southern Indiana!

A dip in the pool fixed everything!

...and I personally own a model 2900 (compensating) euphonium. Based on the level of the parts prices, I think I might just part it out and use the money from the parts to buy me a nice new Harley Davidson motorcycle.
Several years ago I bought an example of the Marzan that predated the Willson from a pawn shop. The lead pipe was wasted. I took it to my local guy who ordered one from Willson. I had not discussed price, just told him to fix it. I almost had to take out a loan to get my horn out of the shop. Fortunately I sold it a 100%+ profit after a couple of years. Taught me a lesson. That was 5 or 6 years ago so I'll bet it is twice that now.

I'm in for a treat tonight. There was a farmer's market in operation at the Roman Festival Brass venue that was so hot the other night. Tonight I get fresh peas, squash, fried okra, silver queen corn and corn bread. Whoopie! :D :D :D

They have 3 more to play this week. It looks like it may top 104 for one of them. I could hardly bear to listen in that heat. Thank goodness I didn't have to play.
That's my boy Casey Thomas in the euphonium section! No surprise he's still bringing the heat!

Is this the same Casey Thomas that owns Solid Brass Music Publishing? The euphs were excellent BTW.

The very same. I haven't heard Casey play euphonium in 5+ years, but he is a monster trombonist and I'm sure he can still knock 'em dead on the euph.

Ok, I didn't realize he(Solid Brass) was in GA. I ordered some stuff a few years ago and I thought it came from CA.

As I understand it (secondhand info here, haven't seen him in a while), Solid Brass is a fairly recent buy for Casey, so orders prior to this year may well have come from parts unknown.

Dick Wuopio recently retired and sold his excellent company to Casey. Dick was based in California for many years. Solid Brass is re-stocking and promises to continue to be a go-to brass music outlet. 8)

Must be something in the air! I have six F horns and four euphoniums... beat all to hell... and all from one school... about half finished in the shop at the moment.

It really amazes me how kids keep finding creative ways to destroy otherwise good horns! These particular horns are all 'step-up' Yamahas and deserve better treatment.

From the same school came a pair of King 1140 tubas. Not my choice when it comes to tubas but nonetheless not cheap horns to kick around in the bleachers!
