I've never heard so many sentences end in the word "so" before.
So?
It's not something I hear on a day-to-day basis, so when I do hear it, it's a little confusing... is the person done talking? Are there more words to come after "so..."? (There usually aren't any.) Just one of those regional language things you have to get used to when you travel!
Eh?

Pretty much. Anyway, just a silly thing to post here. Isn't that what this thread is all about anyway? :)

Instead of talking to your plants, if you yelled at them would they still grow, but only to be troubled and insecure?

I'm currently losing an internal war to a jalapeno pizza. I'm sure anyone near me would find it tragic.

I just returned from a 70th birthday party for a family member held in a casino in Tunica MS. I now remember why I quit gambling 40 years ago. What a boring weekend, even considering that my wife won enough to pay for our trip. I would have preferred to just stay home. I did get a kick out of the people watching though. Some people are just naturally funny, especially in that context.

Casinos are a really, really expensive place to get drunk for free. :)

The last time I went to a casino, my wife put a single nickel in a slot machine and won $20. We cashed out and left right away, how could we ever top that? :)

I don't think that would be possible. By the way, I like the quote, "Casinos are a really, really expensive place to get drunk for free."

Well, so long as you (or your wife) won more than $20 on the first nickel and then left, you would, in fact, top that! :D

As far short of measuring up to His example as you may find yourself, you may in fact be closer than most who commandeer national microphones. Sad but true.

We all know that. He would take it to the bank! Or maybe in light of his recent posts on another subject, hide it under his mattress.

Back last week from a 1400 mile motorcycle trip with 25 other women riders, and dove right in to a weekend with 3 rehearsals, a parade and two concerts. Same on tap for next weekend, with an extra concert thrown in.

I guess it could be worse. Someone could have posted a picture of the guy also playing tuba for the goats! :tuba:

Just had a good chuckle. In a book that I am reading (I know, hard to believe, and it doesn't even have pictures), I ran across this definition:

Tradition- Stupidity on Purpose

Discuss amongst yourselves.

We are now on one of my favorite topics, stupidity.

Stubborn and ardent clinging to one's opinion is the best proof of stupidity.
Michel de Montaigne

Earnestness is stupidity sent to college.
P. J. O'Rourke

Egotism is the anesthetic that dulls the pain of stupidity.

The relationship of stupidity to tradition correlates directly to whose tradition we are discussing. As to your 1848 date, it may have started much earlier. I may post some evidence of this in your other thread as I don't want this one to get political, and face possible banning.
