My New Toy (CLIP ADDED)

Post by TUbajohn20J »

I've been wanting to get my hands on one of these for a very long time now..really since I played one in middle school. So when I came across this one I couldn't pass it up especially for the very low price. The 4th addition to my tuba family :tuba:

Anytime one of us(tuba players) gets a new toy, we all celebrate. Congratulations!

But just like a new dog, don't let it sleep in your bed the first night, or it'll never sleep anywhere else. Looks like you've already got it trained to stay at the foot of the bed. This'll be a good tuba. :tuba:

Thanks! I'm loving it so far it plays beautifully! Even better than I remembered it. It's pretty beat up but not too bad. Just need to get a couple major dents out of it, one right in the leadpipe that probably affects the sound. I might even have it taken apart and get the whole thing de-dented. Who knows maybe even refinished one day. It would be cool to have a brand new 10J. This will be my little "do it all" tuba. A good horn to play standing up, easy to handle. Great solo horn as it really sings in the upper register. The low register is surprisingly good as well. Not to mention a great small group/quintet horn! I have been using a Helleburg and I think it fits the horn well.

Well here is me on the 10J playing a duet I wrote out. Both parts on the 10J using a Helleburg. Enjoy!
