question for any U Mass-Amherst tubists

Post by Paul Scott »

I have a student who will be attending U-Mass in the Fall and he was told that there will be tubas available as loaners. He is curious as to the makes and models of these instruments (he's a BBb player). Any info. will be appreciated-feel free to PM me if you wish.

Which UMass? Amherst or Lowell? (or Dartmouth which doesn't really have a music program that I know of...) As far as I can tell, Lowell has 2 BBb tubas, I believe one is a Jupiter, and one is a Yamaha 621.

If you want to know about Amherst, well, I can't help ya. Sorry...

Go (UMass Lowell) Riverhawks!
Eastman 6/4 CC - Laskey 30HE
Rudy Meinl 4/4 F - Breslmair F3
Conn 2J 3/4 CC - Eastman Paperweight
Olds BBb Sousaphone - Tin Can

The studio at UMass has one CC one F and several BBb horns. One Conn 52J and there are many older Mirpahone 186's that have seen better days. There is also a Miraphone Petrushka. I'm not sure what professor Bottomley is planning to do in terms of loaning the CC or if anyone has claimed it for the fall.

His email is jbottoml @ music . umass . edu if you would like to contact him directly
