Sort of... buyers *do* care if it's a tuba they know you bought for less than you are selling it. That's one problem with buying/selling used stuff around here, it goes around and comes around. Although sometimes value can be added by repairs, modifications, etc., that's not usually the case. Value typically remains the same or drops.

But if a horn is sold at a "giveaway" price to move it, and is then resold at a higher (but still "fair" price), people aren't as excited to know that. It's not wrong, but some people don't "get" it. And then there are people who just set ridiculous prices for their used stuff and wonder why it doesn't sell. Now *that* is when someone should suggest a "better" price.

If someone is offering a tuba for sale, and a potential buyer asks the seller for a "better" price, doesn't that mean that the seller should INCREASE the price?

Joe, if you don't want to sell me that Hirsbrunner for $4,000 a ham sandwich, and a case of Mr. Pibb, then just tell me. That sure seems better than $8,000 to me. No need to start a whole post about it...
