Looking for a deeper mouthpiece

I currently have a conn helleburg and am looking for a mouthpiece that shares the same kind of rim (flat, thin) but with a deeper cup. I've seen the PT-50 (not really sure about the rim width on it, though) and MF3-H, but I want to know about any other options that I don't know about.

A Wick 1L is pretty deep. I don't know if it's deeper than a blokepiece, but it's pretty deep. 1.28 cup diameter, fairly narrow rim, slightly rounded. With its large throat, it plays even deeper.

I really, really like the MF 3-H, and based on what you're describing, I think it's worth your time. It's a kickass big helleberg-like mouthpiece, and pretty much exactly what you're looking for.

I'd check out Marcinkiewicz, too. The rim on the H1 is pretty dang close to a helleberg rim, and the depth is pretty substantial.

The Perantucci rims are really cushiony and wide, and aren't going to do it for you.

According to my crude measurements, depth is the same on Marcinkiewicz H1 vs. Kellyberg.

But, two points that come up in the process:

• I can get figures plus or minus 1/16 inch, depending on gauge width, as the transition from cup to throat is ambiguous. Marcinkiewicz's own figure is 1/8 inch great.
• Volume is greater for the H1, because it's a little wider and has a more rounded profile (i.e., not as funnel shaped as the Kellyberg.) For the purposes of a tuba player, a more relevant definition of "depth" might be "volume / width", as opposed to "distance from top to bottom" as I measured it.

The regular Helleberg is 1.30" inside.
In my mouthpieces I offer a Flat Narrow rim option that is the same as the Conn Helleberg shape. So a Flat Narrow 130 is basically a copy of a Helleberg rim.
My T cup is deeper than a Helleberg, but basically the same style of cup.

I know somebody who has a Dennis Wick 1L, I'll ask them about trying it. My experiences with marcinkiewicz mouthpieces were... sub par. I'll look into the blokepieces and Doug Elliot mouthpieces. Thanks for the replies.

I switched from the Conn to a PT-88+. It has a nice deep cup. I tried a PT-50 and a PT-88 and went with the PT-88.

Check out a Parke Ofenloch, I believe it is deeper.

What is it OP wants to gain (in performance) ?
Deeper is not always better (or darker sound for that matters)

The Blokepiece Symphony can be be made deeper by use of the optional extender. I've been pleased with the results.

I upgraded to a horn with a much bigger bore and want something to accommodate that (Maybe a bigger shank would be a better choice?)

I use "big buckets" when doing the 8va basso playing BBb tuba in brass bands

What I usually use is a houser MK3 with a good size rim
Going for a larger shank will IMO not do much good as your receiver will still taper down to that same size

What I've found to work the best is an am shank on euro instruments with the internal
of the mouthpiece shank tapered as much as possible to be flush with the receiver

I think recommending one a mouthpiece is like recommending one a size of shoes
without knowing the persons size feet.

Going for a big bucket sized 10mm bore MP is not for everyone, but it sure is cool below staff
