Where'd you get your username?
Just a thread of curiosity, where/when/how did everyone come up with their usernames?
Mine I've used for all sorts of usernames over the years, I think the first time was Ebay though. I'm obviously a tuba player, but I'm also a WWII airplane buff, my favorite being the P-47 Thunderbolt whose nickname was the "Jug."
Hence my username: Tubajug
What's your story?

I was assigned the name "Ace" in 1968 by the people at my office who were envious of my luck in consistently winning football pools. I liked the name and have used it since.

You have your choice: the three of us in the current household, or three generations with the same first name.

When I stumbled onto Tubenet I was playing a lot of trumpet, and I just happen to own a 1967 Olds Recording.

I had the very bad judgement to be an unwilling passenger when my racecar decided to drive into the retaining wall at Pocono Raceway, so it was either "windshieldbug" or "splat"...

I've used it since 1996 (junior year of high school) with AOL. My mom came up with it. Over the last couple months, while I've been "between tubas," my wonderful coworkers decided to call me "Tuba-less Todd." Thanks Brandon!

I am Elephant-sized and picked up the nickname of "Ben" because there were five 'Jeffreys' in my neighborhood and my last name is Benedict. A rather boisterous fellow lived three houses up where I lived and liked to shout at me as I walked by, "It's The Big Ben!" and there you have it.

Great airplanes! My dad was an armorer on a P-47 in Europe during WWII. I still have the 50 cal. 'fire-no fire' timing feeler gauges.Tubajug wrote:.... I'm obviously a tuba player, but I'm also a WWII airplane buff, my favorite being the P-47 Thunderbolt whose nickname was the "Jug."

'Tubatinker' doesn't need an explanation.

Re: Where'd you get your username?
At the time I joined up, I was playing euphonium, just getting back into music, and had discovered on another forum that many posters used a username that was not their real name. So, as one who likes bears, and plays on words, I became "bearphonium". Over on the motorcycle sites, I am just Ally House...

Re: Where'd you get your username?
I noticed that everyone (?) on here uses pseudonyms, so I disguised my name. Having a sense of proportion, I didn't expect anyone to try very hard to penetrate the mystery of my identity, so I didn't put too much effort into the disguise (just enough to stop spammers scraping my name off the board).
maybe I should have gone with Vaneef.
