Modern equivalent to Perantucci 9?
At the moment I'm borrowing an old Perantucci 9-mouthpiece from my teacher and I feel very at home with it. Is there a modern version of the same mouthpiece, and what is it called?
Thanks in advance

The "old" 9 is pretty much the "new" 64.elihellsten wrote:At the moment I'm borrowing an old Perantucci 9-mouthpiece from my teacher and I feel very at home with it. Is there a modern version of the same mouthpiece, and what is it called?

Rather than "Pretty sure's and Pretty much's" why don't you contact Dan Perantoni or Bob Tucci and ask one of them?

It is the new 64, but the design is not quite the same in practice.

An old Perantucci 9 is the same as a modern Bruno Tilz 9, or a modern Rudy Meinl 9 (RM9).

Are you certain? Thanks alot anyway! Very interesting. Which of the Bruno Tilz-series is the 9 in? I can't seem to find it on their website. http://www.mundstueckbau-tilz.de/" target="_blankBove wrote:An old Perantucci 9 is the same as a modern Bruno Tilz 9, or a modern Rudy Meinl 9 (RM9).

It's in the "B-Tuba" section, and then in "B.Tilz Nea / 310"
The Rudy Meinl RM9 is the same as the Tilz 310-M 9 .
While the Perantucci M9 (and maybe early PT64?) was the same, the modern PT-64 is different. Personally I prefer the Tilz or Rudy.

Re: Modern equivalent to Perantucci 9?
The re-designed Perantucci mouthpieces are just that - re-designed. I am no fan of heavyweight mouthpieces, and the newer Perantucci mouthpieces are heavier than the original Bruno Tilz designs. I like the old-style 9, as it is very lively and can make even a less-than-great F-tuba come alive.
The original Perantucci 9 was a re-branded Bruno Tilz series 310-M9. We in the US think of this as a fine F-tuba mouthpiece, but at the Tilz website, you'll find that they consider it a shallow-cup B-tuba mouthpiece.
The Bruno Tilz 310 series mouthpieces were also branded at one time as stock Meinl-Weston, Hirsbrunner, and Rudolf Meinl mouthpieces. Rudolf Meinl is the only one that still does this. I find that the Rudolf Meinl RM-9 is better-finished than the Bruno Tilz M-9, so I order them regularly. This is my all-time favorite European F-tuba mouthpiece.

I use a RM-9 that I bought from Lee. It's a great piece for Eb tuba, too. Nice round sound with both a little fat and nice brightness. Slots well. Comfortable rim and cup size.
