Info and history of my silverplateYorkmaster E flat tuba ??

Post by Thermionman »

Hello all......I acquired this Yorkmaster E flat tuba
a while back and got a really good deal for it .It has a small throat....., so maybe not the darkest sounding tuba , but will be awesome sounding for chords (multitrack recording) ... and soloing..I love the old tarnished silver look and don't think I would ever polish it .The dents need to be removed and the joints need resoldering...Does anyone know the history or have any info of this model and what year it may have been made...??Thanks for any info.........

The York Master tubas made by B&M came in 2 model series, large bore with 4 front action valves and small bore student models with 3 valves front or top.

I have the large bore BBb with recording bell. I hear absolutely no German elements in its sound. Huge and very smooth sound. Easy legato, very hard to over-blow. Even putting an edge to the sound takes lot of work.
