Greetings and Salutations all,
Celebrate this Armistice Day with tuba!
A week from today I'll present a recital as part of my doctoral program at the University of Utah; further information appears below. For those outside the Salt Lake Valley, I'm working to set up a live stream of the event. My last attempt ran into a few technical difficulties; once they're resolved, I'll post a link.
EDIT: Below is the link; hopefully the streaming will run more smoothly this time. The recordings should remain up after the fact, for those interested in checking out the performance down the line.

University of Utah
Shapiro - Music for Two Big Instruments
Satie - Ludions
Marcello - Sonata in E Minor, Op. 1 No. 2
Goossens - Oboe Concerto, op. 45
-----
Kraft - Encounters II
Vaughan Williams - Concerto for Bass Tuba
Arban, arr. Cauthen - Carnival of Venice
Waits - Fawn (credit to Aaron Hynds for the idea of using this fine little tune to cap a performance)
***On an incredibly trivial and possibly interesting note, this will be, to the best of my knowledge--correct me if I'm wrong--the first all Parke-Ofenloch mouthpiece recital; I'll be using the original on the big horn and the Parke 2 on the small one.

So, how did the recital go? And how was "Fawn"? It really is a nice way to end a recital--it's like a little lyrical handshake to end the show. I've used it twice now--once with a harp accompaniment that I threw together, and once with the a piano arrangement.

It all went pretty well. "Fawn" was of course a fine closer; will use it again, and will hopefully flesh out the arrangement with some barred percussion at some point. Thanks again for putting the idea out there!
