Great teachers in Europe

Post by bububassboner »

Hello everyone,
Okay so I now have my personal tubas with me in Germany and I FINALLY have my car fixed. So now that I can drive I want to take lessons with a ton of different teachers here in Europe. So If you could come to Germany and or Europe and study with five different people who would you study with and where are they? I'm gonna be here for at least three years and wanna make the most of it.

Thank you for reading.

Heres my list:

Alexander von Puttkamer
Alessandro Fossi
Willi Brandstätter
Heiko Triebener
Patrick Harrild

One other thought my list probably violates... if you are a CC and F player, you my want to focus of CC and F playing teachers. Seems like a bigger deal over there for some people.

I'd throw Jens-Bjorn Larsen and Oystein Baadsvik on there.

It appears you have a good orchestra fairly near your base? You might contact the tuba player in that group. I'd wager he is an excellent player. He may take on students.

I would make it a priority to work with Walter Hilgers.

Markus Theinert used to travel to Mannheim to teach. Might check with him to see if he's still doing that. He does have a very hectic schedule.

+1 for Bob Tucci. Great guy and there's already a relationship established with him and the band.

Jens-Björn Larsen. He has a very busy schedule though, he's a teacher in Malmö, Copenhagen and Hannover.

Anne-Jelle Visser in Zurich has been doing some pretty incredible things. Sergio Carolino in Portugal is also all over the map, as far as playing styles, projects, and traveling schedule goes. Those are two pretty amazing younger teachers that would be worth finding.

I'll +1 on A. Fossi, B. Tucci, M. Theinert. I'd also say it would be worth your while to find a few euphonium players who also teach. Thomas Reudi, Jukka Myllys, and Ueli Kipfer are three that come to mind. Wonderful musicians.

Good luck, have fun!

I'll second Anne-Jelle Visser in Zurich. Great teacher!! Alessandro Fossi would be a great lesson to have, as well.
