Indeed!!! That stuff was worse than "Soylent Cream", better known as Genny Cream Ale. I have to laugh when I see it sold as a designer beer out here. I had a dog who LOVED beer, but wouldn't so much as sniff "Soylent Cream".

Did you go up the 4th in bar 9? 'cause that might have required some advance planning to avoid the horror of getting out of 1st position.

Just a minute there.....I've heard you bitch and moan about your trombone skills on this very board. Are you crawfishin' on that now? Is bloke the trombonist ready to come out of the closet and join the real musicians an octave up?

I have suspisoned for a long time that you were selling yourself short. I'd be willing to bet you are far better than "close enough for jazz". Of course I can appreciate the desire to scat sing the bridge in front of the section. I don't play tuba in front of tuba players if I can help it. :tuba:

If, when sitting in the back row you say something you don't want heard in the front row, DON'T say it.

Last night at first rehearsal for carols at local cathedral in a couple weeks, conductor asked who had solo part for Oh Holy Night in their book. No replies until I mentioned to bass bone that I did for some silly reason. Full blown version with obligato section and quasi cadenza. Nice trumpet solo.

So we start reading it, get to solo entry (I'm playing tuba part) so conductor stops. "Ken, you are doing the solo."

Guess I'll be doing some extra practice the next couple weeks.

Well crap! I went to the grand opening today mainly to try their porter. It wasn't ready yet. Have to wait another two weeks.

On thing they are doing that's interesting is using nitrogen instead of CO2 for their carbonation. Nitrogen is smaller bubbles and makes for a 'creamy' brew until it finally settles and warms up. I didn't care for it. Frankly... I like my beer not so cold.

Nitrogen ... interesting. Wonder if it'd cost a lot more if they used helium instead? It'd be an interesting effect ... :tuba:

Wikipedia said
Draught Guinness and its canned counterpart contain nitrogen (N 2 ) as well as carbon dioxide. Nitrogen is less soluble than carbon dioxide, which allows the beer to be put under high pressure without making it fizzy. The high pressure of dissolved gas is required to enable very small bubbles to be formed by forcing the draught beer through fine holes in a plate in the tap, which causes the characteristic "surge" (the widget in cans and bottles achieves the same effect). The perceived smoothness of draught Guinness is due to its low level of carbon dioxide and the creaminess of the head caused by the very fine bubbles that arise from the use of nitrogen and the dispensing method described above. "Original Extra Stout" contains only carbon dioxide, causing a more acidic taste.
I get to visit the Guinness Brewery in Dublin as they are a customer of mine. I have yet to meet a brewmaster but I always enjoy calls were I visit the production line.
Cant carry a tune but I can carry a tuba.

If it gets up to 89 degrees (F), don't open it ... don't even touch it (and *don't* offer it an after-dinner mint  ). Just RUN. You can always take the check to it later ...
