I usually participate in an average of 3 Tubachristmasses per year, but I haven't had the time to make the trip to the origin of them all. I'm hoping to be there next year for the 40th anniversary, though!

OK folks. The day has arrived and its a balmy 46 degrees in NYC. There are some clouds and a 30% chance of showers come performance time, but we're hoping it will hold of as it often has. We'd love to have you come to Rock Center to perform or be a rousing member of the audience. Hope to see you and if you plan to perform be sure to say hi to Carol, Tom, Mike, Bill and me at the registration table. Merry Tuba Christmas!

Some folks have asked whether the concert would be canceled because of weather. Well, we have over 300 players gathered already. The show goes on! So grab your horn and join us!

What a great event! Gary and the rest of the volunteers put on a great performance. It was definitely the highlight of my first trup to NYC! If you can get there (with a horn), I highly recommend it!
During rehearsal, I even met Frank Ortega by virtue of me liking his King Cadet sousaphone!
Also, the Bubbie mini-travel tuba worked perfectly for this gig. It just barely fit into the overhead bin of an S80 (which is a big but not too big of an airplane). It also wasn't too terrible carrying it around NYC. I even coat checked it at a show! I had a bunch of people ask me about it.....It didn't really seem that small holding it, but it was tiny...I was hoping that I wouldn't be banished to the euphonium section!

...anyway, I think I might be back to an NYC Tuba Christmas someday!
