Check out "Pops a la Russe" by the Boston Pops; a little birdie told me that Ron Bishop was the tubist on that recording on his Alex ;-) And it's very, very cool!

Houston & Dave Kirk:
I am going to second the Houston/Eschenbach Dvorack & Francesca da Rimini. I am pretty sure he told me he did that recording on his 4valve Alex 163. I have a couple more, very rare Houston/Eschenbach recordings that were not sold to the Public and that is Bruckner 6($200 new on Amazon), which he did on the 4valve Alex, and a Mahler 5 that was recorded live in Vienna and I believe that was done on the 4 valve Alex. I also have a Prokofiev 5 with Houston that was done on the Alex. I can't say how highly I recommend any of these recordings.

Dallas Symphony & Ev Gilmore
It is my understanding that Ev played Alex's frequently and I would recommend any Dallas Symphony recordings either way because many of them are audiophile recordings and sound great.

National Symphony & Dave Bragunier
I will also second all of the Shostakovich recordings with Rostropovich/National.

I just confirmed with Kirk that he did use the 4 valve Alex on the Mahler 5 Vienna. He also said he was using the Alex this week on Sensemaya and Moldau. Looks like I might have to get out of San Antonio this weekend.

Anything done by the Cincinnati Symphony/Lopez-Cobos.
Some of my favorites being...
Bruckner: 6,7,8,9
Respighi: Church Windows
Villa-Lobos: Bachianas Brasileiras No.2 & 8
Shostakovich: 1 and 15
Wagner: Overtures and Preludes
The Great Fantasy Adventure Album/Cincinnati Pops Kunzel.

I believe, but i'm not sure, that John Jenkins of the Philharmonia used an Alexander BBb on big works.
Check out the Jarvi/Philharmonia recordings of Prokofiev works.

Boston Symphony
Bruckner: 8/Steinberg
Vaughan Williams: 4/ Davis
Prokofiev: R&J/Leinsdorf
Mahler: 3/ Leinsdorf
Prokofiev: Scythian/Tilson-Thomas
Hindemith: Mathis der Maler
...there is a box set available that has just about all of these.

Houston
All the one's mentioned so far are exquisite, but my favorite example of Dave Kirk's playing i'm not sure was done on the Alex. It's the Rouse Flute Concerto. The Chorale in the Third Movement is absolutely jaw dropping.

I'm sure i'm forgetting stuff...

I bought an Alex 163 a few months back and decided not to keep it. Although this had very good intonation and of course the great Alex sound I just could not justify keeping the horn considering I don't play much and felt it shoudl go to someone that will use it. It was one of the best examples of the Alex I have owned. When I was selling it I decided to put a few videos together to show the horn. I know I am not Chester or Lind so please dont compare mw with them.

Here's an interesting one I recently ran across in a used CD shop...

Tangazo: Music of Latin America
New World Symphony / Michael Tilson Thomas
1993

Lots of interesting music on this, particularly a young Craig Knox playing his Alexander 163 on Sensemaya.

I did a little digging and found this (per Craig Knox's website):

This recording includes SenseMaya, another work which is rarely performed, but which has a major tuba solo which is often asked on auditions. I played it on a CC tuba (Alexander 163); although I'm happy with the result on this recording, I've played it on F tuba ever since. There are many other obscure pieces on this album, many with great tuba parts.
The Darling Of The Thirty-Cents-Sharp Low D♭'s.

Man, he's GREAT, but that has to be THE BEST piano playing I have ever heard on this piece. I would love to hear her play the whole thing. It makes me NOT miss the orchestra.
