Possible replacement bell?

Post by Tubajug »

For you repair guys out there, what are you thoughts on this as a replacement on my Bach/Olds tuba? It might be close enough....

There's also another one that's more beat up, but the price is certainly right! I don't know if I want to replace my beat up bell with a beat up bell though....

I'm not in the shop at the moment and don't have access to my notes. If memory serves me correctly... the small end of your Olds is 3.98" diameter. You could probably cut the bells in question to fit but the result would be a bell that's waaay too short ... making the horn unplayable sharp.

That was my thought too. I do have to play with my main slide all the way in, but I doubt I would have enough pull to bring it down that far. $14.99 Buy it Now is awful tempting though.... The seller responded and said that the small end circumference is 11 1/4", whereas mine is 12 1/2".
