Anybody know when the Conn-Selmer Co. started stenciling the King 1135 with the Conn 14J logo ??

That probably happened in June of 1985... same time the King 1241 tuba became the 1241 tuba... the Conn 15J became the same thing as the King 1140 tuba... and the Conn 14K sousaphone was discontinued and the King production was branded Conn.

Most of the common American instruments came under the umbrella of United Music Instruments and eventually became Conn/Selmer/Steinway.

Very confusing for purchasing parts!

That is obviously a King 1135 but the horn doesn't appear to be that old. According to the Allied catalog... the 14J (aka King 1135) was a very short production run. The '5' in front of the serial number doesn't equate to any serial number lists I've seen. I strongly suspect that this horn was produced during the UMI Cyborg turmoil shortly before/after 1985 and just bears a goofy serial number. The valve caps don't look like either King or Conn. The braces look King.
