Vanderbilt has a good community concert band that rehearses Tuesday nights in the Spring semester and puts on a couple of concerts. The group includes music teachers, assorted community players, and Vandy non-majors - mostly med and law students. Their director Dr. Dwayne Sagen is outstanding. Rep includes everything from the traditional Holst/VW/Grainger to more contemporary band works to circus marches.
They are just getting going, so it is probably not too late to jump in for this semster.
(They don't meet fall semester due to marching season aka football season.)
Phone number and email are on their website - give them a holler, and you could probably jump in tomorrow.
