Perantucci old model names?

Post by thattubachick »

Does anyone know where I can find information on the old PT models and their equivalent models now? For example, I play a PT-4... which according to all the websites I have seen so far is no longer the name of my tuba (they all have rotors... mine is pistons.) And I need to find out it's approximate replacement value for insurance purposes. Right now I have it insured for what I payed for it, but I am curious as to if it would be worth more.

Or maybe I'm completely off base all together... I've never been much of a gear head and it's coming to bite me!

Thanks!
Michela

You actually have a B&S PT-4P. The PT-4 is the rotor version (same as with the PT-6 and PT-6P). The original PT-4 was a very tall rotary horn, called the "B&S Symphonic Model". Soon after, the more squat version came out. I think there was even a B&S PT-5 rotary tuba (tall, like the PT-4) but didn't last long. Glad I kept my Custom Music booklets for this info  8)

If you purchased it show-room new, no.
Haha, no, I got it used. :P And since upgraded the case and got a few other little things done.

Thanks for the info!
